Taekwondo Day celebrated around the world

(Sep. 4, 2025) - World Taekwondo today joined athletes, Member National Associations, and fans around the world in celebrating Taekwondo Day – a day that honours not only the sport’s rich history but also the values that continue to unite millions of Taekwondoin across every continent.

At the heart of the celebration are the values that define taekwondo: respect, tolerance, integrity, and inclusiveness. On Taekwondo Day, these values were on display through demonstrations and community outreach programmes led by Member National Associations and clubs everywhere.

The global celebrations reflected how Taekwondo has become more than a martial art – it is a universal language of peace and unity. On this special day, World Taekwondo reaffirmed its commitment to using the sport as a bridge between cultures, strengthening bonds across borders.

As Taekwondo Day was marked around the globe, World Taekwondo celebrated the growing global family of athletes, coaches, officials, and fans who embody the sport’s values every day.

Taekwondo Day is celebrated every year on 4 September to mark the IOC’s decision on that day in 1994 to include Taekwondo on the Olympic programme.
