LAUSANNE, Switzerland  (June 27, 2016) - The website of the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation, or THF, went online today, offering taekwondo athletes, coaches, teams and fans from around the world the opportunity to do good.

The website address is www.thfaid.org

It provides information on the THF mission, establishment and operational guidelines; details on the foundation’s organization and contact points, and reports from ongoing pilot projects already underway in Syrian refugee camps in Jordan and Turkey, and in earthquake-devastated regions of Nepal.

“I urge all members of the global taekwondo family to bookmark the THF website, as this is the most ambitious humanitarian endeavor ever undertaken by our sport,” said Chungwon Choue, president of both the THF and the World Taekwondo Federation. “Now that the foundation’s office is fully up and running, the THF website will be the main communications channel for all activities, notably humanitarian projects and fundraising campaigns, going forward.”

The website offers a PayPal solution for instant donations.

“Please visit regularly and click, click, click, as the more views we get, the more attractive we look to potential sponsors,” said THF Executive Director Roger Piarulli.

“Official fundraising campaigns have not kicked off yet, but any individuals, companies or clubs that wish to contribute can do so right away.”

”The website is our ‘get together’ room where we, the global taekwondo family, gather to give back using what we love most – the sport of taekwondo,” added THF Communications Director Azza Fouly. “As this is the age of interactivity, we want to hear from everyone on what you would like to see, and how you would like to get involved as donors, as visibility raisers and as volunteers.”

The THF was the brainchild of Choue and WTF executives in 2015. It was officially established as an independent charitable foundation in Lausanne, Switzerland in April 2016. Its dedicated office, board of trustees and staff were set up in the same month.

Its mission is to empower refugees and displaced persons worldwide by teaching them the sport, exercise and martial art of taekwondo, along with related educational programs.
