During the recent Oceania Qualification Tournament for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, WTF President Chungwon Choue took time out to visit the Caritas Girls Technical Secondary School in Port Moresby on 29 February 2016.
He was accompanied by Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee President Sir John Dawanincura and Oceania Taekwondo Union President John Kotsifas, Papua New Guina Taekwondo President Peter Miria and Korean Ambassador to Papua New Guina Seong-choon Kim
Taekwondo has been taught at Caritas for 10 years.
School Directress Sister Florentina Cho said that the school’s students had won silver and two bronze medals in international competition. Two Papua New Guinea taekwondo fighters won quota places for Rio at the Oceana qualification event and Choue said, during his visit to the school, that he hoped, one day, to see the school produce world and Olympic champions.
