Taekwondo sparring question?
In ATA sparring is it illegal to do a takedown. I mean like a ju jitsu type takedown? I'm talking about ATA sparring ONLY.
Answer:
Yes, because there should be no holding in a "competition" sparring match, now you can get by with no hold takedowns like leg sweeps but thats about it. ATA is the organization; the rules are ITFsanctioned. now if this is an in house sparring session where your going through one steps and advanced one steps then you will have some take downs and those are OK but never in tournament style competition.
