Letter from ATU President on WTF’s decision on Allowing Refugee Athletes to Compete at Rio 2016

Dear ATU Family and Friends,

First of all, I wish all our ATU MNAs have a great new year with best luck.

As a President of ATU, it is great thought and decision that the WTF took a great initiative to enable refugee athlete to participate in the Olympic Games and the WTF Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament for Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

At a time when the world is suffering from a refugee crisis, IOC president has encouraged all sport federations to give a chance to the refugee athletes who do not have official nationalities so as that they could compete in the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympic Games.

We, as a world sports organization, must join forces to work together for world refugee crisis and it is not a matter only for certain region but it is a tragedy which may affect all mankind.

The great work we can do through sports is that we are able to contribute to the social development and the mind to help the socially weak is the basis of sports.

ATU will stand hand-in-hand to keep the Olympic spirit and to light the pathway to 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games safe and open for all athletes. We extend our ATU hospitality and invitation to WTF and its athlete under the WTF flag.
