TEHERAN, Iran (4 September 2019) – Iran reinforced its love of taekwondo on International Taekwondo Day on 4 September, when more than 10,000 athletes came together in celebration.
The day was officially observed across all of Iran’s 31 provinces demonstrating taekwondo is a sport which reaches every corner of the country. More than 10,000 taekwondo athletes, coaches, and referees joined together in Teheran’s Azadi Venue (which can accommodate 12,000 spectators) to celebrate the sport.
A deputy for the Sports Minister and a number of high-ranking civil and military officials also attended the event. The celebration featured Poomsae performances and a speech delivered by the President of Taekwondo Federation. In addition, the event featured a live performance of the Taekwondo anthem of the Islamic Republic of Iran Taekwondo Federation.
